Attack in Haiti

The outbreak of violence in Haiti continues unabated. Since the start of the year, more than 2,400 people have been killed and 277 kidnapped in gang-related violence in the capital, Port-au-Prince, the UN reported on Tuesday.

In this country plagued by extreme violence that has led to more than 400,000 people being displaced from their homes by armed gangs, more than 550 killed by them, this is the message received yesterday:

Gang attacks in Pétionville have unfortunately killed many more people, including UEBH sister Myrtha Turnier, one of the leaders of the Evangelical Press in Port-au-Prince.
Two days before, Brother Gaston was with her (Myrtha Turnier) at the Pétion-Ville office. She was so discouraged and devastated at being forced to flee her home, that he prayed with her to comfort her. But here's what happened: she and her sister Esther were killed in their car.

Here's what it says in the paper:
On March 18, alerts were issued by residents of several residences attacked by hooded armed gangs in Laboule, Boutilliers and Thomassin (in the hills above Pétionville). During their assault, the gangs murdered educator Esther Turnier, one of the leaders of the Collège classique féminin, and her sister Myrtha, a member of the Union évangélique Baptiste d'Haïti, in her car.
She had left her house in Lalue in downtown Port-au-Prince temporarily because of the gunfire, and was murdered in her car by armed gangs in Laboule, in the heights of Pétion-Ville, early last Monday morning, March 18.

When one member suffers, all members suffer with it.
The Bible Mission helps the UEBH to accompany, feed and teach displaced families and children.
