Tribute to Jacques Émile Blocher (1961 - 2024)
It was with great emotion that we learned that Jacques Émile Blocher had been called to God on September 24, 2024, following a long illness.
Jacques was one of the driving forces behind the Bible Mission who remembers that :
- - With his wife Agnès, he went to Côte d'Ivoire as a development worker at the time. CPE (Center de Publication Évangélique in Abidjan) from 1983 to 1985.
- - He joined the French Committee in 1987, helping to update the by-laws and rules of procedure, and to set up the European Committee in 1988. Appointed to the Board the same year, he became Vice-Chairman in 1996.
- - Jacques and Agnès returned to Côte d'Ivoire in July 2000 to take part in the UEESO General Assembly.
- - Jacques provided invaluable support in the administrative aspects of the mission (bequests, official texts, relations with the administration), helping to audit the accounts, alternating with other accountant brothers and sisters.
- - He was also very active in bringing the Bible Mission in contact with brothers and sisters. In fact, it was thanks to him that the current president of the Mission Biblique, Serge Oulaï, and his wife Caroline met Jean-Claude Raynaud, then president of the committee of the Mission Biblique. Bible Mission. The current president of the Swiss committee, Guy Kohemun, and his wife Christelle also benefited from Jacques Blocher's proximity to the Tabernacle church in Paris.
So, in the name of Bible MissionFrench and Swiss committees, as well as partner church unions - theUEESO (Union of churches born of the evangelization and training work of the Bible Mission) in Côte d'Ivoire and theUEBH in Haiti - we would like to pay tribute to the commitment of this brother in the faith, this servant of the Church in France and of the mission, and express our sympathy to his wife Agnès, his father Henri Blocher, and the entire Blocher family.
