On the afternoon of Wednesday May 21, 2025, the Haitian region of Artibonite, and in particular the town of Preval, was attacked by armed bandits. They entered the Maranatha Baptist Church in Preval and murdered Pastor Jacques Brutus and 14 other members of the congregation.
